If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like inside the head of a Titan Machinery diesel technician, look no further than their toolbox. An extension of their personality, these thousand-pound-hunks-of-steel tell a story about each tech who calls Titan Machinery home. Some are intricately organized and pristine; others might need more explaining. Full of their tools, family photos, memorabilia, and more... there is no wrong way to keep a toolbox.

The Busy Bee
The most common type of toolbox you may discover is ‘The Busy Bee.’ Always on the go, switching from tool to tool, you’ll see an array of wrenches, hammers, power tools and oil-stained rags in the open. A calendar of
combines or planters usually adorns the sides and often, one or two of the drawers are open. While no one quite knows for sure why, we suspect it’s likely for ease of access.
The Busy Bee is always seen near their machine or assisting another tech. They show great attention to detail and take a step-by-step approach to any job. They stop working long enough to eat lunch, and according to rumors, they only need 2 hours
of sleep a night. Driven by sheer determination to complete a job on time, the Busy Bee is known to be diligent and to never miss a fix.

The Caffeinated
On a similar energy level as our Busy Bee, ‘The Caffeinated’ toolbox staple is in the name – caffeine! This diesel tech always has a thermos of coffee or other favorite caffeinated beverage on their toolbox. In fact,
most have multiple - allowing them to focus on their tasks at hand without ever needing to stop and refill. This toolbox is known to have multiple work orders sitting on it and ready to be tackled, with a tower of empty cups for passersby to help
themselves to some brew.
These techs are known for their kindness, productivity, willingness to share, and of course high energy – with every ounce being translated directly into the job.

The Hydrator
In a similar realm as our caffeinated friends, ‘The Hydrator’ has bottles upon bottles of water on their toolbox. Tools and water bottles, it’s all they need. As a reminder to stay hydrated, one might even find bottles
with notches on the side, helping the tech keep track of their hourly intake. This individual never slows down and has fueled their strong work ethic with a hydrated, and thus happy body.
These hydrators specialize in quick jobs that get the operator back in the field. They’re known for their reliability, practical problem solving, and… their farming jokes.
The Achiever
When you see a toolbox covered in trophies and plaques there is only one name that comes to mind for this toolbox owner; they are ‘The Achiever.’ Exceptional in all they’ve set out to earn and accomplish, these techs display
their achievements with pride. Everything from yearly certifications to ‘best of’ awards, these techs demonstrate leadership and ambition.
Yet, the Achiever is never afraid to show they came in second, or third, or even last. Rather, it’s the joy of seeing their hard work and contributions to Titan team in action every day that drives them to keep growing. Often, these techs have
had a passion for diesel technology from a young age. Usually inspired by a parent or grandparent, the Achiever gets a start in the agriculture world early on, making them some of the most ambitious and well-trained people in any shop.

The Paper Pusher
When you think of diesel technology - you might think dirt, grime, sweat, and hard work. Finding a pile of neatly stacked papers and a clean laptop, next to a wrench and power tool on a toolbox might even shock you a bit. You might wonder, “is this
an office job or a tech job?” ‘The Paper Pusher’ likes to be involved in the best of both worlds. Their toolbox is covered with just as many tools as any other; however, the Paper Pusher also saves a spot to organize
their work orders, schedules, lunch menus, customer contacts, parts information, and anything else a printer can put on paper. In some extreme cases, the Paper Pusher may even bring a filing cabinet as an extension to their toolbox!
With well-organized tools and paper, there doesn’t need to be much else to their toolbox. The Paper Pusher leans toward a simple and relaxing lifestyle. As the one who usually knows where things are, can be trusted to know how to fix anything
that comes across their way, and who always carries a genuine kindness special to Titan Machinery, the Paper Pusher is a customer favorite.

The Collector
Then, we have the rarest type of toolbox in a Titan Machinery shop -- ‘The Collector.’ Usually a veteran in the industry with experience beyond the technical work, The Collector almost certainly has a special edition toolbox
– the most common being a 100th anniversary edition. The extra price is worth it for the Collector. On it you will often find toy models of tractors and combines on their toolbox – red, of course. This tech tends to never have an unfinished
set of tools, and every set is kept polished with only the most minor of wears and tears.
The Collector tends to be known for their expertise in precision farming. Depending on the season, they are working closely in the field with machine operators to ensure the customer stays up and running with their precision farming equipment. The
Collector is renowned for tidiness, politeness, wisdom, and… their love for sandwiches.
The Family First
Finally, with a toolbox containing as many photos of the tech’s family as there are tools, ‘The Family First’ toolbox is a heartwarming one, and one most customers can relate to. Here, you’ll find a few framed
photos from wedding days and school picture days, with tools placed neatly across. Every spot that is not occupied by a tool has a photo with clear tape holding it up. Spouses, children, parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles - there is no end to
the love the Family First has for those close to them. As we also know, family often extends beyond blood. On many occasions, techs from the same shop can also be spotted amongst these displayed photos - an honor bestowed on the strongest of friendships.
You can even see photos of longtime customers that trust the Family First with their machines. A true testament to the bond developed between tech and customer over the years, these hold a special spot in our Titan Machinery hearts.
The Family First specializes in scheduling and timing, always aware of what job needs to be done and when. This skill allows them to take advantage of their full vacation benefits and ensures quality time with their loved ones. Arguably the most trusted
tech in the business, they go above and beyond for customers on a regular basis.
There are a variety of ways for a diesel technician to make their toolbox their own. Whether they bring a piece of home to the shop or show off their career accolades, each tech’s toolbox is a piece of them, of who they are and what drives them to be the industry’s best. So, the next time you find yourself at a Titan Machinery, be sure to pay close attention to the toolboxes. You never know what you can learn about a tech.
